We want to thank Lu Boren’s Veterinary Science Class at Escalante Middle School for fostering a mama cat and her four babies! Students have been helping to carry out badic care, doing daily health and behavioral observations, tracking weights, and administering vaccines and medication 🐱

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about animal welfare and we are so grateful for their help with this litter!

We are only 11 days away from Colorado Gives Day!

This year has been filled with many challenges due to the aftermath of COVID-19. With the required halting of all public spay and neuter clinics during the pandemic, we experienced an immediate increase in surrenders and a decrease in adoptions, resulting in significantly longer stays of the animals in our care. This not only adds stress to the animals but makes it more difficult to provide for them.

With COVID's continuing impacts, the animals need your support more than ever! Make a life saving gift to the animals like Angelica who have been with us for multiple months and help us expand the shelter, allowing us to better care for the increased number of animals, and making their often-extended stays more comfortable.

Help us hit our goal this year of $30,000 and give a gift on Colorado Gives Day, Tuesday, December 7th.

Koda is one handsome, trusting, and lovable boy! This one-year-old cutie has been with us for almost 80 days and has been patiently waiting for his furever home.

Koda is a playful and loving puppy at heart who loves kids, playing with dogs, joining in on outdoor adventures, going on car rides, and is very devoted to his people. Koda is housetrained, loves to cuddle, and is very people-focused which makes him eager to please and always ready to learn! Koda, however, would do best in a home with no kitties or livestock.

Koda knows his basic commands and is getting better on the leash each day! He needs an active home with a yard and is looking for a family to show him the wonderful outdoor perks of living in Durango 🏔

Meet 11 month old Camino! This young guy came to us as a stray with a broken leg and although we attempted to cast his leg, the break was too severe resulting in him needing an amputation. However, that has not slowed Camino down one bit!
Camino is a brave and strong willed pup who has lots of energy and loves playing with his toys and doggie friends! He is looking for an active home that will include him in their adventures but also be patient while he is still learning to navigate with three legs.

It is with great joy we get to announce that after spending nearly 4 months in our care, sweet Marilyn was adopted by the perfect family! We are so excited she found her forever home and is already enjoying her new life to the max. Marilyn was a joy to take care of and we are so thankful for those who have been taking her on walks, supporting her and loving her on her journey.
