Shelter Our Strays, Friends of Greenwich Animal Control

SOS is an all volunteer organization committed to supporting Greenwich Animal Control by providing funds to the facility to assist with operations and various programs.

Shelter Our Strays (SOS), is a group of dedicated animal lovers organized under the aegis of the Bruce Museum. The group raised funds to build a new animal control facility in Greenwich, CT, which opened in 2010. They continue to support the efforts of Greenwich Animal Control by providing funds to improve the conditions of and services provided for the animals cared for at the shelter in order to improve their quality of life. This may include funds for extra medical care and additional supplies for the animals which otherwise would not be available; educational programs to encourage adoption of pets, spay and neutering of pets, and handling of wildlife issues; as well as other programs related to the operation of the facility.

Greenwich Animal Control enforces local laws pertaining to the keeping of dogs, cats, and other animals. However, it also supervises animal adoptions when pets are not claimed by their owners, offering the animals the care and shelter they need. If an owner does not come forward and cannot be located, the animal will be cared for and evaluated to determine if it is eligible for adoption to a suitable home.
