Southeast German Shepherd Rescue was founded to save German Shepherd Dogs from high kill shelters, abuse and abandonment. We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization that relies on the compassion and dedication of individuals within the communities we serve.

Our mission is to:
(i) Rescue German Shepherd Dogs from unwanted, abused, abandoned, and/or life threatening situations and assess each dog individually to determine appropriate care, treatment, and/or training.
(ii) Provide basic training to foster and adoptive families for obedience and general manners and to provide understanding with regard to basic canine psychology in an effort to enhance pack bonding.
(iii) Place each dog in a permanent and loving home with screened and pre-qualified applicants who have been educated about proper care/nutrition, training, and genetic predispositions of the breed.
(iv) Accept back and/or reclaim into the rescue previously placed Southeast German Shepherd Rescue dogs that can no longer remain with their adoptive family.
(v) Actively participate in the education of the public with regard to the health benefit of spay/neuter, proper care/nutrition, training, and other aspects of the breed.
(vi) Work cooperatively with like-minded animal shelters and other rescue groups towards our common goals of savings dogs’ and reducing pet overpopulation.
(vii) Support organizations that improve peoples’ lives by educating or promoting active involvement within the communities that we live in by volunteering our time and talents.
