Royal Dog Rescue is a non-profit organisation based in Meath Ireland, that aims to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs in danger of being put to sleep.

Royal dog rescue was set up when a group of like- minded people saw the need for more support for pound dogs in danger of being put to sleep.

Each volunteer within RDR has worked tirelessly with other local, reputable rescues and while the work of these rescues is to be commended, RDR saw that more focus on pound dogs was needed.

The focus of RDR is to take dogs from pounds only: the dogs that will be helped will be the ones that are in immediate danger of being put to sleep. We will foster them; provide them with medical, physical and emotional care while waiting for them to find their forever homes.

The aim is not to save as many dogs as we can, but to change the lives of as many dogs as we can, given the budgetary and physical constraints volunteering so often provides us.

RDR does not have premises, nor do we have a contact number. We are currently liaising directly with pounds and will offer to help only when a volunteer has space.

In a time when rescues are appearing all over the country, people need to be vigilant and wary of each and every one, us being no exception. We invite and encourage questions, we will post photos of every dog in our care in the foster home that it is in and we will allow our successes to speak for themselves.

We will work alongside two fantastic dog behaviourists, Lydia Finnegan and Brian Rosney and we already have an established, good relationship with local wardens and local charities.

We are currently waiting for our charity to be registered - all paperwork has been filled out and sent away and we have opened up a bank account. Once we receive our charity number, we will publish it proudly straight away.

We would love to have your support and we hope that as time passes by, our volunteer list will increase and we will achieve our goal of making a difference in the lives of our Irish Pound Dogs.
