To educate pet owners about humane animal treatment, care and responsibility

And to do all of the above in the most humane, compassionate way possible

We are an animal rescue group on the island and continental part of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. We promote spay and neuter clinics, education, and adoption programs.

Our mission includes outreach work, going into neighborhoods to care for animals in their homes and focus on encouraging owner participation and education. Animal rescue is incredibly hard work and incredibly rewarding.

ISLA ANIMALS is a 501C3 organization founded in 1999. We are 100% funded by donations and the generosity of unpaid volunteers. We have rescued over 5,400+ dogs since 1999 and are dedicated to decreasing the unwanted pet population on Isla Mujeres, Mexico through on-going spay/neuter programs, education, vaccinations, and adoption.

WHAT ARE DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO CLINIC?:
From Centro, start driving south on Medina (this is the road the ferry is on) and continue up Medina about a mile and a half. You will see a big store called "CHEDRAUI" on your right, pass CHEDRAUI by continuing on the curve of the road, and again continue on Medina through the curves. You will then pass "OSCARS RESTAURANT" on the right, continue up Medina another mile and a half. Eventually, you will see a giant thatched roof structure called the Hacienda Mundaca Parque. Our clinic is located here. You have gone too far if you see the hotel "ISLA MUJERES PALACE".

We do not use addresses on Isla Mujeres. You can tell any taxi driver, "Hacienda Mundaca Palapa" and they will bring you right to us. I'D LIKE TO ADOPT A DOG, WHAT IS THE PROCESS?:
Please email bayfirestd@aol.com for all of the details. some quick info: We do not charge an adoption fee but, the adopter is responsible for purchasing a crate and any charges your airline may charge-each airline is different in fees AND the number of animals they allow per flight (and if they allow animals at all). We will take care of all the paperwork and certificates for customs, transporting the dog to the airport and going through the customs process at airport-this is at no charge. If you are seriously considering adoption, we recommend you book your flight with an airline that allows pets to fly as well as bring a soft or hard dog carrier for transport. We are often very short on carriers and they are hard to find and expensive on the mainland. We do ask for at least 5 days notice if you are considering adoption. Getting health certificates prepared and signed and coordinating airport transport, and your airline takes a few days. Thank you, we hope to hear from you!
