Romeoville Humane Society
Romeoville Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill animal shelter that provides temporary housing and care to abandoned and neglected dogs and cats in search of their forever homes. romeovillehumanesociety.org
Romeoville Humane Society, Inc. is a no kill, non-profit 501(3)c animal shelter dedicated to enriching the lives of animals in our community through dedicated rescue and adoption services. Romeoville Humane Society provides resources and information to the public about the proper care and training of pets, how to recognize and report animal cruelty, how to help prevent animal over-population, and will provide assistance with locating lost pets.
Romeoville Humane Society was incorporated in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) in an effort to help the community’s stray and abused animals and to educate the community on important animal related issues. Although we are not part of the city of Romeoville, we try to work closely with them, as well as their animal control department to rescue as many animals as we can. A common misconception is that we, as a local humane society, receive government funding. All monies received to care for our rescued animals are earned either by our own fundraising efforts or donations from individuals and businesses.
We are a no kill shelter and all of the animals we save are currently housed in licensed foster homes because we do not have a stand-alone building of our own. We are trying to acquire a building, as it will only increase our efforts to save animals and educate the community. If you are interested in helping us, there are many ways you can contribute. You could become a foster home, donate always needed money, or simply help us in our struggle to find a building by lending us your talents. Everyone has a place in our Humane Society; we just need to see where you will fit in. Please visit our "Volunteer Page" to see some of the incredible opportunities that we have for you and your family or organization.
