Five Acres Animal Shelter
To end pet homelessness, promote responsible pet ownership and advocate for animal welfare.
Five Acres Animal Shelter is the only no-kill shelter in St. Charles County. We assist those interested in adopting cats and dogs that have either been surrendered to us form owners that can no longer care for them or transferred from other shelters where they faced euthanasia.
We also have many volunteer opportunities, pet food pantry that offers temporary assistance to pet owners and a small gift shop within our facility.

Phineas has taken several outings with his staff friends, but he would love to have a family he can do fun things with forever! π§‘
He is a handsome, adventurous, boxer mix with lots of love to give! Phineas is two years old and loves spending time in the sun with the humans. He would do best in an adult-only home but would be fine with a canine buddy. This stunning guy is waiting patiently for someone to fall in love with him!
You can apply to meet Phineas here: fiveacresanimaalshelter.org/adopt/adoptable-pets-dogs πΎ #fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

These generous animal-lovers held a lemonade stand and used the proceeds to buy cat food, dog food, and toys for the animals of Five Acres! Thank you so much to these entrepreneurs and the rest of our community who never fail to make our animals feel loved and supported! β€πΎ#fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

Josephina has come such a long way since arriving at Five Acres back in March. π§‘
She came to our Randolph location as a stray and was beyond terrified. We thought she was feral and would do best in a barn home, but slowly she started to open up to people. One of our awesome fosters brought her home, and she absolutely blossomed! After several months gaining confidence in her foster home as well as making friends with the resident cats and dogs, Josephina is ready for her forever home! She is only a year old, friendly to all animals, and a total purr-machine. We're so proud of her progress and excited for her to find her perfect adopter!
Josephina is waiting for visitors at the Kitty Cottage, or you can apply to adopt her on our website: fiveacresanimalshelter.org/adopt πΎ#fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

This Alumni Update is checking in on Mia Farrow who spent over five months at the shelter waiting for her perfect match! π
Mia has been enjoying naps on the couch, long walks in nature, and being spoiled beyond belief. We are so thankful that her adopter gave her a second chance at life and let her prove what a good girl she is. Happy life, Mia Farrow! πΎ#fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

This gorgeous gal is German Butterball Potato, and she is 100% ready for a home to call her own! π₯
At 12 years old, Butterball is looking for an adopter who will dedicate plenty of time to spoiling her rotten. She was found as a stray, wandering the streets of St. Charles, but that's no way to spend golden years. Instead, her golden years should be full of yummy treats, cozy couches, and hours soaking up the sun!
Help us find this sweet, senior pug a loving home ASAP! Apply here: fiveacresanimalshelter.org/adopt/adoptable-pets-dogs πΎ #fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

The phrase "Double Trouble" was invented with these two ladies in mind! π€π€
Kiwi (3y/o) and Peach (4y/o) are two peas in a pod, true partners in crime, and they're looking for a home where they can continue to stir the pot together! They are sweet and silly beyond belief and keep staff laughing all day long with their adorable sisterly antics. These girls deserve an adopter who will love them in all their goofy glory!
Come meet Kiwi and Peach at the Kitty Cottage, and you'll see how much fun they can bring to your life! fiveacresanimalshelter.org/adopt πΎ#fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." -Mother Teresa
Our Echo could really use some of those kind words. She has been with Five Acres since November of 2019, almost two years. After that long of searching high and low for a home, a dog can start to lose hope. Echo is a five year old lab/pit mix who would do best in an adult-only home without other animals. She is very playful and would love to have a yard to zoom around in. It's a very specific type of home, but once she finds it, we know she will absolutely thrive.
Echo deserves a chance at forever. If you think it could be with you, fill out an application to meet her: fiveacresanimalshelter.org/adopt/adoptable-pets-dogs πΎ#fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop

Good luck looking into these eyes and NOT falling in love! πβ€οΈ
Maple has been dreaming of a wonderful, loving home where she will be spoiled beyond belief, and we want to help her get there. She has not had the easiest life up until now, but you wouldn't know it from her sweet personality. Her favorite activity at the shelter is hanging out in the laundry room testing all the new toys and helping the humans fold blankets! Maple also loves going on hikes and playing in the yard with her chew toys. She would be best suited for a home without other animals and only older children.
Apply to meet Maple here: fiveacresanimalshelter.org/adopt/adoptable-pets-dogs πΎ#fiveacresanimalshelter #safesoundandhomewardbound #adoptdontshop
