Our mission is to protect the health and welfare of the animals living in Rowan County, as well as, to find homes and rescues to place those that have found themselves in the custody of the Shelter.

The Rowan County Animal Shelter is an open admission, municipal shelter committed to protecting animals while working to promote a harmonious atmosphere between the animals and residents of our county. Over the years our Shelter has strived to become more adoption friendly and inclusive of the community who supports us. We have gone from averaging 35 adoptions a month in 2010, to adopting an average of 274 animals a month in 2014. The Animal Shelter and all of its staff are very proud of the progress that has been made and know that none of it would be possible without the hard work and dedication of our caring citizens.
