To serve and protect the animal population.

1. There is no such a thing as a bad dog, just bad people. No dog is beyond rehabilitation. We can take any dog that has been deemed "viscous" and rehabilitate that dog to it's original sweet nature. There is no great secret to it. All it takes is a pure heart and an effort.

2. Animal cruelty should be a felony. It's just common sense. People who abuse animals will then abuse people.

3. The Lexington Humane Society has, for years, focused on human complaints over animal needs. Their efforts have been to control the animal population, when they should ideally be there to serve the needs of homeless and abused animals. This means a large amount of animals are killed at the facility, sometimes within a few days of intake. They will not share information or release numbers, but our best estimate is that around 6,000 animals are killed every year at this facility. It also means that animal fighting and abuse continues to thrive on the North side inner city, and that the Humane Society itself is woefully under financed, due to the short-sighted vision of its previous leadership. The good people who work there are not to blame - you will not find more dedicated and sweet natured folks than those who work at the front desk, but Lexington is badly in need of a bold and courageous vision to steer them into the future. We envision a future where Lexington benefits from a new, modern "No-Kill" facility, combined with plenty of community outreach and free spay/neuter for those who qualify. A place where all citizens who genuinely care about animals can participate and have input. The citizens of Fayette County deserve a larger, more modern facility and we will do whatever we can to help make this happen. Our goal is to help build a better future for the animals that the citizens of Fayette County can be proud of!
