This page will be used by the Alpena County Sheriff's Office Animal Control as a resource for public education and posting lost and stray animals with a goal to reunite them with their owners.

Alpena County Sheriff's Office Animal Control is responsible for the enforcement of state laws and county ordinances pertaining to the care, control, treatment, and licensing of domestic animals with a priority to protect public safety and animal welfare.

It is the mission of the Alpena County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Officer to provide humane animal control by protecting the health, safety and well-being of citizens and domestic animals by effectively using resources available through education, community partnerships, investigative law enforcement, compassion towards animals and promotion of responsible pet and domestic animal ownership.

Alpena County does not have a county run shelter but currently has a contract for partnership with the Huron Humane Society to house and care for animals taken into custody by the Alpena County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Officer.
