In July we introduced you to Lannister, a very sick boy at the shelter. We wanted to give an update, although there hasn't been as much progress as we had hoped! Lannister was heartworm positive, had pneumonia and was malnourished. We started him on multiple small meals a day, breathing treatments, slow kill treatment for heartworms, steroids and antibiotics...and not much has changed? Lannister is finally gaining weight but after several rounds of antibiotics we had to complete a culture and discovered that he had several resistant bacteria in his nasal canal....which is why he wasn't getting better. We have now started him two other antibiotics in the hopes to knock everything out so that this boy can start living his best life.

We are still looking for a foster to adopt home for Lannister, so that he can make his next step in to furever home as he continues to get better. No other dogs at this time, but he does well with cats. Lannister has a timid streak, going flat when you go to pick him up, but is very people oriented. He will need a calmer home that just wants the love of a furry friend.

Bri is an around 1-2 years old lab mix. She is seeking a home with a passionate animal lover who is prepared to meet her where she is. Bri had a rough puppyhood and the result of it is that she is fearful of people. Bri isn’t aggressive but in reality may never be a snuggle bunny or come to you for petting. Her foster has had her for almost a year and has only recently began seeing small behaviors that show affection (bumping her on the head with her nose, not moving when she touches her with her foot) but the impact of these small gestures makes her heart explode. Bri LOVES all dogs and will need a playful companion to make her feel comfortable. She will also need a fence for safety. Bri will need time and patience and realistic expectations. We know that Bri needs a miracle adopter but also have seen so much in rescue to know that miracles do come true. Are you Bri’s miracle?

His nickname should be Shadow as he makes sure he is as close to his person as he can be. He is house and crate trained, enjoys walks and calm days at home. Biscuit needs time around new people so his best family will be someone that understands his breed mix and doesn’t expect him to be a social butterfly. He does well with other dogs and will need another canine companion in the home to help him feel more comfortable. He does fine with cats. He will do best in a home with no small children as their energy is too much for him. He is house and crate trained but is still working on his leash skills.

Wags has had five homes in her short life but even with all these changes, and being given up time and time again, she continues to be loving and trusting and joyful. Wags is full of spirit and we do not want being stuck in boarding to break that spirit. This little gal had a hard time medically at such a young age but with the help of everyone’s donations and support, she has been cleared!
