This is a fan page for Barbara's Cat Rescue. A private, independent cat rescue service based in Southampton which relies solely on people's kind donations.

Her motto is PURRS.

Personal
Unconditional
Rescue
Re-homing
Satisfactorily

Barbara has been involved in cat rescue since the mid 1980's when she worked with the Cat's Protection League. In 1993 Barbara joined forces with Helen Farrar in cat and kitten rescue.

In 1995 Barbara had purpose built cat pens installed. Then in 1997 I decided to branch out on my own with Barbara's Cat Rescue.

Cats are re-homed for a variety of reasons, such as fur allergy, financial hardship, bereavement, long term illness and partnership break-ups as well as just being unwanted. Others are brought in by the police or members of the public as strays. Owners having to give up cats are encouraged, wherever possible, to keep them until a new owner is found. This is to cause as little disturbance as possible to the cat.

The neutering of cats is extremely important and any cats re-homed by Barbara over the age of 6 months will already have been neutered and vaccinated. Vaccinations should be continued yearly along with regular health checks.

Finance is obviously an ongoing problem and Barbara raises funds from stalls at fêtes and shows. Help with raising these funds is always welcome and much appreciated.

Donations of tinned cat food and cat litter are most welcome and gratefully received. Also, donations may be made directly to Dr. Christopher Carter Veterinary Surgery in the name of Barbara's Cat Rescue.
