As an independent, no-kill shelter, LAWS does not euthanize for population control, breed, age or stay time. All the shelter’s animals will be cared for with optimal nutritional, behavioral and veterinary services while every effort is made to place them in a loving home. This often involves a mutually beneficial partnership with other community organizations. Only when animal health experts indicate that irreparable health or behavioral issues have resulted in an unacceptable quality of life for the animal, will euthanasia be considered.
