Your feline friends from the Humane Society of Macomb are here with a quick reminder about paper plates!

If you have any unused paper plates after Thanksgiving, please consider donating them as they are great for distributing medicine or special food to rescues.

Paper plates can be dropped off any time during our operating hours of Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm and 1-4 pm. As well as Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 6 pm.

Get the tissues ready for this heartwarming story that shows how crucial microchipping can be...

When Snooker ran away 2-months-ago, his family searched week after week to find him. They notified multiple lost pet agencies and their microchip company too. Without a word, they had begun to fear the worst had happened.

Until yesterday, when a kind couple noticed him searching for food and decided to share their Thanksgiving meal with him. The next morning they brought him into the Humane Society of Macomb where, thanks to his microchip, he was identified. Without a collar, the chip that he was given by his rescue when adopted, was able to provide staff with his owner's contact information and notify them.

Of course, they were thrilled and rushed to get him so he could come home at last. It was a heartwarming reunion for sure and a great reminder of the importance of microchipping!

For this #FarmAnimalFriday we have Chief, our newest piggy resident here at the shelter!

He was transferred to us from our local animal control. After taking some time getting used to the new farm, he now stays in our extra-large pig suite in our barn with our other two piggies Pearl and Wilbur!

He's a Vietnamese Potbelly so he's much smaller than the average pig, and is between one and two years old! His favorite snacks include apple slices, carrots, and goldfish crackers!

It was the first of many peaceful Thanksgivings for Geraldine who is still recovering in her loving foster home.

It's thanks to generous gifts like those given on Giving Tuesday which provide the medical care and supplies for fosters so they can help rescues heal.

In less than a week, give on #GivingTuesday, November 28, to help those in need like Geraldine.

A huge high-paw and thank you to Bark Nation for bringing #KONGsgiving to the Humane Society of Macomb!

Their team handed out delicious treats to all of our rescues as part of their PAWliday celebration.
