Casa Sheila

Casa Sheila is a result of all the hard work and dedication Sheila Marshall put into rescuing dogs and cats in the Baja, this is named in her memory.

Casa Sheila is dedicated to finding the right home for each rescued animal.

We are are a no-kill humane society rescue organization of volunteers who are dedicated to humane treatment of animals everywhere. When we perform a rescue, and only after all options to save an animal are exhausted, is the decision made to put an animal down and out of it's suffering in a humane manner. We always ask, "what is best for the dog or cat?" If there is a chance to save an animal, we do whatever it takes!

We may cry our eyes out, and spend many a night nursing a sick animal, but sometimes despite all our efforts we may not be successful, and hearts are broken.

Casa Sheila respects the work of LCHS and Aida Trujillo, and works closely with rescue organizations in the San Jose Del Cabo area in Baja who share our values to hold spay and neuter clinics to help keep the population of unwanted or neglected animals to a minimum. They are a great support to Casa Sheila in promoting responsible pet ownership and care.

When determining the placement of our animals, we always have and will check the homes of the person if they are not known.

Adoptive families for dogs must have a fenced yard, must be able to afford appropriate care, and may not be adopting the dog just for the purpose of protection. The dog must be considered a member of the family.

If an adoptive family can no longer keep the dog they received from us, the dog must be returned to Casa Sheila, and we will shelter or foster until we find a new appropriate placement.

Case Sheila has always provided this care and service on a donation basis. However, shortly before the passing of our mentor, Sheila Marshall, we were considering implementing a minimum fee of $150.00 USD. This fee could be waived or reduced if Casa Sheila believes the adoptive family is a "perfect fit" and funds are limited for the adoptive family. This policy has not been formally implemented, but may soon be a part of the application for adoption of one of our rescue animals. However, our main goal is always answered in every case by the question "what is best for the animal?" That is our over-all goal and mission.
