The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter believes that all animals are entitled to be free from suffering, abuse, and exploitation. We believe in the intrinsic dignity and sanctity of animal life. We have an obligation to prevent cruelty, alleviate suffering, and to protect and care for homeless and abandoned animals. Our mission is to promote the adoption of companion animals and to educate the public on responsible pet ownership. We believe that our values, decisions, conduct, and behavior should set the tone and be a model for others in their care and treatment of animals.
The Northest Georgia Animal Shelter is an open admission, non-profit Shelter, supported financially by private donations and funds from eight city and county jurisdictions. We accept animals from Hart and Franklin Counties. We often take in sick and injured animals, feral cats and wild dogs. In these cases, it is our obligation to humanely end the suffering of these animals. We strive to get all of our animals adopted, and often work with rescue groups and other local shelters to achieve this. Our maximum capacity is 60 animals. Currently our adoption rate is 30% and we are working hard every day to increase it. Our goal of course, is an adoption rate of 100%. We also have a 40% RESCUE rate! Thanks to all the rescues that pull from us. We are very rescue friendly.
