I have been doing rescue for 15 plus years as an independent and have saved more than 350 dogs. However, I wanted to be able to do more and knew I could only do more becoming a 501(c)3. Rescue never gets easier, it breaks your heart daily, you may never be cash rich, but your soul will always be rich and your heart always full.

I started this rescue because I never want any dog to die alone, scared, in pain, or suffering and if we can give them their best days in the time they have left that is what we strive to do for these little souls.

Gunter is one of those dogs who never would have passed a temperament test he would wag his tail begging you to pet him and then bite you when you did. He had a siren bark and didn't mind letting you hear it. He smiled and then would chase you. He is the reason I take the hard ones that nobody else wants because I know under all of the "bad" or sick dog is the best dog you'll ever meet.

I found the lump almost a month after my father passed away on a Monday, I took him immediately to his vet, we schedule surgery for the following Monday. In the meantime, they did a biopsy and it wasn't good my baby had a fast growing aggressive cancer and his survival rate for surgery was less than 10%. I begged the gods to not take him. They didn't hear me. He was diagnosed on Monday and suffered a series of strokes on Friday, strokes that left him the shell of the dog he was and I had to let him go.

Every once in a while I see him and he will often visit in my dreams. He was my co-pilot for more than 10 years. Traveling with me and Zeus and we put 1000's of miles on the car transporting, rescuing, fundraising, adoption events, home checks, adoptions, and help other to cross the bridge.

Günter, I met him on a Friday, he came to live with me 2 years later on a Friday, I found his lump on a Monday and he left me on a Friday. He was my little warrior, my protector, my toughest rescue, my biggest heartbreak, and the reason Günter's Legacy exists.

I know he's still sitting in his dog seat in the passenger seat of my car, paws pressed against the dashboard keeping watch as we travel through the next part of our journey. Giving me the courage to rescue other dogs like him, dogs who would have perished at the shelter.

It is our hope to be a beacon and resource for the sick and injured and to create better lives for them through rescue, foster, adoption, and hospice when necessary.

Sweet Lucy one of the 9 Chihuahuas we rescued from a hoarding situation had a spay and dental today. The vet called and said she was lucky we got her in today she had pyometra and one more day might have killed her. She had 19 teeth removed. Please if you can donate even just $5 it would mean so much. Lucy's bill was almost $2800.

“It’s Just A Dog” by Richard A. Biby

From time to time people tell me “relax, it’s just a dog” or “it’s a lot of money just for a dog.” They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time invested or the costs incurred by “just a dog.” Some of my proudest moments happened with “just a dog.”

Many hours passed being my only company “just a dog”, but not for a single moment I felt despised. Some of my saddest moments were for “just a dog,” and on those gray days, the gentle touch of “just a dog” gave me the comfort and reason to spend the day.

If you also think “it’s just a dog,” then you’ll probably understand phrases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.” “Only a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust and pure and unbridled joy. “Only a dog” brings the compassion and patience that make me a better person.

For “just a dog,” I’m getting up early, going for long walks and looking forward to the future. So for me, and for people like me, it is not “just a dog,” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the memories of the past and the absolute joy of the moment. “Only a dog” brings good in me and diverts my thoughts away from me and the daily worries.

I hope one day you can understand that it’s not “just a dog”, but what gives me humanity and prevents me from being “just a human”. So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog,” you just smile because you “just don’t understand.”

S.O.S this morning, 8/23, Marlo (mom) and Magnolia took a turn for the worst, we need your prayers and donations. We are once again at the emergency Veterinary hospital. This time with our mama Marlo and Magnolis. Marlo and her 4 puppies were diagnosed with Parvo.
They are all being treated and we are doing everything we can to get them through this but the expense of emergency weekend medical care is mounting. Marlo needs some extra help. After a few days of treatment she is not eating and couldn’t keep down what little she did eat. We are concerned because she came to us in terrible shape and is still extremely underweight.

Gideon the poor discarded baby is doing fantastic. Learning to eat on his own, potty’s on pee pads. Plays well with big dogs. All this in just a few days!! He is smarter than his breeder that gave him up! 😂🤣🐾🐾

Black dog syndrome is a phenomenon in which black dogs are passed over for adoption in favor of lighter-colored animals. . Black cats are similarly reported to be subject to the same phenomenon.

It seems we have become a black dog rescue. 😍 These babies are all available for adoption and they are all such great dogs.

They get along with other dogs and cats. They are sun worshippers and they will give you kisses for days. All but Basil love sleeping on the bed, he prefers the couch.

Milton was matted, had foxtails, those round prickly balls, flea, sores, gunk in his ears. He's been to the groomer, thank you Heather. Thank you, Debi Stark Vinson for making sure he got to safety.
Milton will be going to the vet for a thorough checkup.
