The PAWS Chicago Adoption Center is a state-of-the-art, cageless No Kill shelter, uniting more than 6,000 homeless cats and dogs with new families each year.
The PAWS Chicago Adoption Center is located in the heart of Chicago’s own Lincoln Park neighborhood, designed to meet all the needs of its homeless canine and feline guests, while welcoming and encouraging involvement from the community. This bright, welcoming, accessible home-away-from-home for homeless animals is in the heart of one of the most progressive and animal-friendly communities in the country.
At 1997 N. Clybourn Avenue, the PAWS Chicago Adoption and Humane Center is surrounded by thousands of people, families, and retail stores, with lots of activity and foot traffic to attract volunteers and adopters.
PAWS Chicago has consulted with sheltering and behavior experts across the country to ensure that the design, operations, and practices of the new Center will offer the best temporary care and comfort for the homeless animal guests, while easing their transition into permanent homes once adopted. The Center’s innovative features will enhance the physical and emotional health, and therefore the adopt-ability, of its homeless dogs and cats, with:
*Suites instead of cages to ensure a quiet, relaxed environment
*Ventilation system with 100% fresh air flow to eliminate disease transmission
*Enrichment area for daily exercise, agility and training
*Matchmaker program to match pet characteristics to adopter’s lifestyle
The Center is also designed for PAWS Chicago's more than 5,000 volunteers to engage at every level, from greeting guests to socializing pets to counseling adopters to coordinating foster homes. As a No Kill shelter, PAWS Chicago is committed to treating each pet with the highest quality medical care.

Most of us don’t know what it’s like to be abandoned. Maybe we can imagine. Life is good, there’s food, shelter, someone to love us. And then it’s replaced, by cold, silence, and fear.
Maybe that’s how Uriel and Urla felt when they were abandoned in an apartment together. Amazingly, their story is a happy one. Because they were found. The entire PAWS Chicago community is looking out for them. That’s never more true than on this day, Giving Tuesday. With every donation thousands of other Uriels and Urlas will soon be saved. Please join us if you can.
Thanks to the generous support of PAWS adopter, Erin Fauber, your donation will be matched up to $10,000 in honor of her PAWS pet, Oliver! Donate at https://bit.ly/PAWSGivingTuesday21

Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving, is tomorrow, November 30. If you’ve ever needed a reason to join the PAWS Chicago community in our mission to protect voiceless, innocent animals, well, meet 𝕋𝕚𝕝𝕕𝕒.
Her foster calls her quiet, curious & brave, and says she snores a little during naps. She’s adapting to life with only one front leg.
She arrived at Chicago Animal Care and Control with fur so severely matted it had cut-off circulation to her paw. We hurried her to our Medical Center the day we met her and performed the surgery the very next day. She’s healing now and her future looks bright.
With animal-lovers like you supporting us on critical days like Giving Tuesday, Tilda and thousands of others get a second chance. We’ll keep giving every Tilda everything they need. Please join us if you can.
Thanks to the generous support of PAWS adopter, Erin Fauber, your donation will be matched up to $10,000!
