FIRST LOOK INSIDE THE SHELTER OF OUR DREAMS

This year, GivingTuesday will benefit Phase III (“Raise”) of The Big Barn’s capital campaign. When we say Raise, we really mean it - The Big Barn is up!!!!!! Now all we have to do is add the finishing touches.

When we shared our GivingTuesday video last year, the shelter was just a slab of concrete and a dream put on paper in the form of beautiful renderings. This year, those renderings have come to life and we could not be more proud to give you a first look inside The Big Barn.

We have a few more things to check off the list before The Big Barn is complete and we can start work on the Rescue House, but we are almost there.

Shoal is a 3-month-old bundle of energy who is always ready to play! This sweet pup is happiest when she's playing fetch with one of her squeaky toys or playing tug-o-war with one of her four-legged friends. She'll frolic and play all day and then snooze all night. Almond Joy (AJ) is still thinking about those Thanksgiving leftovers! This sweet girl has a big heart, loves to be around you, and comfort you when you're sad. Meet Chobani, a curious cat who loves to explore the house. He's an outgoing, friendly fellow who always wants to be right by your side. One of our favorite characteristics about Chobani is how silly this boy is. We'd love to see him find a family that will give him space to play and let him be his best self. Salty and Schooner were recently profiled on WGN yet these two sweet babies are still looking for forever homes (or a foster home). Piggy Lee is celebrating! Her holiday season will be extra bright this year because she is officially heartworm free! She came to us a just over a year ago and started heartworm treatment, which is a long process that culminates with (hopefully) a final negative heartworm test. Well, Piggy Lee and her new mom can now rest easy knowing that she’s officially in the clear! Congrats to Piggy Lee and thank you to everyone who supported her along the way!

All the pups (Warner, Almond Joy, Shammy, Breccan, and Brent) at the Adoption Center were treated to a little organic chicken feast today because we are grateful for them.

Additionally, today (and every day) we give thanks to all the volunteers, fosters, adopters, staff and supporters for keeping ALIVE Rescue going, especially through a pandemic.

Hug your fur babies extra tight and maybe give them a little piece of turkey under the table. They would love you more for it.

Breccan spent the weekend researching all his road trip @airbnb stays and rental car options for his journey to sanctuary life at @sarasanctuaryorg. He’s leaving in a little over a week to start his new life and we are so excited to see this city dweller transition into country living.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Breccan’s Journey Fund. We are currently raising money for the donation we are making to SARA and are about $3,500 away from our goal.
