Pen Pals Inc is a non-profit NO KILL animal shelter and adoption center located on the grounds of Dixon Correctional Center in Jackson, LA and serving the surrounding areas who operates SOLELY on public donations.

It is our mission PEN PAL’s Inc. Dog and Cat Shelter and Adoption Center to:
• Provide a safe and healthy environment for homeless dogs and cats.
• Provide medical needs for the animals at the shelter.
• Teach basic commands to the animals in order to make them more adoptable.
• Reduce pet over-population through an aggressive spay/neuter program.
• Reunite lost pets with their owners.
• Secure quality adoptions for the animals.
• Raise money to assist with medical, operating cost and other care.

Our program includes comprehensive training of future veterinarians in shelter environments and also provides programs promoting rehabilitation of those incarcerated at DCI.

We are a dog and cat adoption guaranteed (no-kill) facility. Once we receive an animal in our care they are vaccinated, de-wormed, tested for major diseases, and before they leave for their forever home, they are spayed/neutered. We work solely on donations and volunteer veterinary services. We accept dog or cat food, blankets, towels, animal beds and of course toys to keep our pets busy.
