This is not an official page for the Township of Jefferson. This page is run by Jefferson Township Municipal Pound volunteers.

The Jefferson Township Municipal Pound is located behind the Health Building at 57 Minnisink Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849. Animal control officer Kim Smith, along with a group of volunteers, are responsible for the cleaning, feeding, and TLC for each and every animal that enters the shelter.

Currently, the Jefferson Township Municipal Pound is home to 5 dogs and 40+ cats/kittens, all who are longing for their forever home.

The pound holds at least one public Adoption Day per month from 11am - 2pm. If you are interested in coming to see our animals though, volunteers are available to assist you on Saturday and Sunday mornings (usually from 8:30am - 10:30am) or by appointment Monday through Friday by calling animal control officer Kim Smith at 973-663-3241.

Donations are always gladly accepted, either through a money donation or items that the cats and dogs may need. These items include:

- Dog/cat dry and wet food
