Summit Dog Rescue -- For Dogs with Altitude!
Our mission is to save dogs that thrive at high altitude and match them up with loving, forever homes in the Rocky Mountain region.

Summit Dog Rescue - For Dogs with Altitude!

Welcome to our Colorado-based dog rescue. Our mission is to save dogs in Colorado and neighboring states from kill shelters. We focus on "mountain dogs"--dogs who thrive at elevation and are as comfortable hiking above treeline as playing in a creek. Dogs with altitude!

We are based in Boulder, CO but have volunteers throughout the Front Range and near Vail, Grand Junction and Steamboat Springs.

If you have questions or need help finding a home for a dog, please email summitdogrescue@yahoo.com We cannot take new dogs via Facebook so please do not message us requests for help here or post them to our timeline.

If you'd like to foster or adopt, go to www.summitdogrescue.org/contact-us.html to begin the application process--and check out our adoptable dogs on the website also!

We can ALWAYS use more volunteers. If you'd like to get involved, email our Volunteer Coordinator at summitdogrescue.volunteer@gmail.com.

A note for potential adopters: Fill out the form on our "Contact Us" page on our website. We get a lot of inquiries and are all volunteers, so please be patient. The application process takes on average two to three weeks, which includes the application, two phone conversations and a home visit. Please include below a little bio of yourself, your lifestyle, your dog guardianship history, and the life you envision with your adopted dog!

Our application process takes more time than most rescues and there is no guarantee of a placement - if you're in a hurry or aren't up for the thorough screening process we undertake we fully encourage you to check your local shelter. Shelter dogs need homes more than anyone!

Adoption Policy
We have an extensive adoption process that includes an application, two phone interviews, reference checks and a home visit .
