Our Mission:
Taysia Blue Rescue strives to save lives by keeping Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes out of shelters. We provide them the with medical attention, socialization, exercise, food and a safe place to live with volunteer foster families until we can find them forever homes.

Our Vision:
Taysia Blue Rescue envisions a time when all adoptable Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes have a loving home. Where all have their basic needs met, where all families are knowledgeable of the challenges and wonder of the breeds and where both humans and dogs become ambassadors of this vision.

Who we are:
Taysia Blue Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are a family of volunteers and advocates dedicated to helping local Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and their guardians. We are funded solely and supported by, the generosity of individuals and corporations in our communities. All of our dogs are located in approved foster homes in the metro areas of Omaha, Lincoln, Kansas City, Des Moines and Denver. Taysia Blue does not have a physical building and does not have set hours of operation.

Our Guiding Principles:
Be Kind. We demonstrate kindness and compassion for all living creatures, we treat others as we would want to be treated.

Respect the Individual. We value and recognize the contributions of each volunteer. We respect each other's opinions, even when we don't always agree. We aren't quick to judge and we listen openly. We respect the privacy and boundaries of adopters and volunteers. We approach each dog as a unique being with different needs. We own what we do and have a sense of urgency. We trust and empower each other to make decisions.

Strive for Excellence. We are open to change, we want to lead by example. We are agile and seek innovation. We strive to make at least one thing better every day. We work as a team and help each other.

Act with Integrity. We do what we say we are going to do. We value honesty and fairness. We are objective by making decisions based on Taysia Blue Rescue's interests and the dogs that count on us.

What we do:
Provide impact on the communities that we serve by taking dogs from crowded shelters and finding a safe place for them in a Taysia Blue Rescue foster home.

Taysia Blue Rescue works with the dogs while in foster care to minimize the challenges when moving to their permanent home.

Taysia Blue Rescue works to set families up for success, by setting realistic expectations and matching them with the right dog to share their lifestyle.

We support our adopters for life by providing on-going support and resources.

We provide education and resources about the Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute breed to ensure that adoptive families can make an educated decision before adopting.

We support responsible dog ownership by educating the public about spay and neuter and promoting good health and safety.

We support and encourage positive reinforcement training technics; believing it is better to teach a dog by showing them the behaviors that we want vs. punishment for what they did. We do not support the use of shock or prong collars.

We give back to the community by helping out other animal welfare organizations and supporting other groups in need.

ACCEPTING A DOG IN TO RESCUE
Everyday, dozens of Siberian Huskies and many Alaskan Malamutes are killed in shelters across the country. In order achieve our mission, we commit ourselves to help healthy and treatable dogs who are at risk of being killed in a shelter and have no other options.

We do not have a facility. Every dog in Taysia Blue Rescue must live safely in the home of a volunteer, along with their human and furry family members. Currently requests for help exceeds the number of open foster homes by almost 10 to 1.

We are sad to hear from families who feel like their only option is to give up the dogs they love. We will try to direct you to trainers in your area who might e able to help you work with some behavior challenges. We would much rather that your dog is able to remain in his or her home with the people he trusts.

We would like to help every dog and owner who needs us, but please note that we prioritize the Huskies and Malamutes that are in the greatest jeopardy of being killed due to shelter overcrowding.

🖤 Black {Dog} Friday (see what we did there?!) 🖤

Meet Ras!! He’s brand new to rescue this week. He’s a darling young man (around 1.5 years) with jet black fur and that pretty face mask that makes all the hearts flutter! He’s great with kids and women.. a little nervous around men, but his foster home is working on showing that all humans can be safe! His foster family will be working on his confidence and socialization skills. He’s done well with other dogs and has great promise of being crate trained. If you have a husky on your #blackfriday list, consider applying for Ras! He can submit his Holiday wish list upon request, although a family of his own is his top priority 😉 🎁

Wanda is large and in charge. Like the ultimate #sourpatchkids dog she’s mostly sweet with a hint of sour 😂 She’s potty trained, loves the crate for her naps, very dog friendly, and treat motivated. She’s a lovely gal until she gets stressed or overexcited when she gets more reactive. Her foster dad has been working on channeling more positive reactions to stress and she’s made significant improvements already!

Overall, she would likely do best in a home that understands positive reinforcement and how to deal with rough husky behavior. She’s the ultimate sassy lady, and we love her! ❤️🐾

Everyone please take a moment to stare and appreciate how incredibly adorable Orinoco is! Orinoco, aka Orry, is a handsome and energetic boy with lots of love to give. He would be a perfect addition for a family looking to stay active.
Orry is a little anxious in his crate but has done a good job when left to free roam his foster home. He prefers female dogs over male dogs. He knows basic commands and is eager to learn new manners and tricks with treats! He is potty trained. Well helloooo, Mr. Brown Eyes!

We recently welcomed Parsley 🌿 to rescue. During his stay in rescue, he will be treated for Heartworm disease. In the meantime his foster family is raving about this boy and rate him a solid 10/10. He has wonderful manners, loves all people, and has a lot of fun playing with other dogs. He may need slow introductions with other male dogs, but with a few days he is ready to have some fun! He hasn’t shown a desire to jump a fence, but make sure to shut your door quick because this husky boy is ready to show you how fast he can run! 😂 🏃

We like to put a little PSA about Heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is quite preventable with monthly preventative medication. The disease can be deadly if left untreated. The treatment is lengthy and rather painful, but these pups are resilient and when they are cured they go on to live a very happy life! Talk to your vet if you have questions! All of our available dogs are given monthly Heartworm preventives and are tested before being adopted.
