Mission: The Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord Merrimack County is dedicated to car-ing for abandoned and homeless pets, protecting and advocating for pets in need, and promoting the humane treatment of all animals.

Vision Statement: The Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord Merrimack County envisions our community to be a safe haven for animals, where the animal-human bond is nurtured and all animals are treated with compassion and respect.

We are the only full service humane organization serving Merrimack County and the Claremont area, and take in more than 1,600 animals a year. In addition to accepting owner-surrenders and strays from the residents of the country, the agency contracts with 17 surrounding towns to serve as their animal control facility.

Nothing like an early morning stroll. Capone here is working on walking with his gentle leader, this is a management tool that helps with dogs who pull while walking on a leash. Capone is a very strong boy and this helps staff/volunteers and Capone enjoy a nice walk together . As you can see Capone is doing VERY well with his training! Some times it takes time, love and patience. Here is what our adopter had to share about Sula now Zuzu; ""I just wanted to let you know how we are doing with our wonderful lap cat. We adopted Zuzu on 8/31/21. We knew she was semi-feral when we adopted her. It took about a month before we could pet her and have her come onto our lap without food. We used food & play time to socialize her. It took about another month before we could pick her up. She is very sweet and kind and follows me around the house. It has been an amazing transformation from a kitty who was scared to look us in eyes when she first arrived here. Thank you for giving us this chance to adopt such a wonderful cat."
