The purpose of this page is to network slaughter-bound equines into homes. Each horse listed has a scheduled ship date and is offered for purchase prior.

Horses, Mules, and Donkeys listed on this page are owned by brokers who sell weekly for slaughter. Until now, horses from these individuals have shipped off directly with no chance of finding a home. After much thought and deliberation, this page was created specifically to network some of these broker-owned horses into homes rather than sending them over one of the borders. These horses are here for the purpose of being gathered to fill orders for slaughter shipment. They are not available to "try out" prior to purchase. They are listed here solely in the hopes of finding them a suitable home before their ship date. We are not a non-profit rescue - we are a feedlot and this feedlot is a for profit business. The purpose of this page is solely to find the listed horses homes. It is not here for slaughter debate or the debate about broker-owned purchases. There are plenty of other pages for that and such debates here will NOT be tolerated in any way. Horses will be listed each week with all available information. Ship dates will be attached to each horse. These dates are rigid and not up for extension. If not purchased prior to the ship date, the horse will be removed from the page, tagged, and sent. Because these animals are sent to more than one slaughter buyer, you will find that the dates will vary based upon where they are scheduled to go. Upon purchase, the horse will be marked "safe" and subsequently removed from this page to make room for the new listings. All horses purchased through Tar Heel Feedlot will come with a new Coggins test. Health Certificates for interstate travel and into Canada can be arranged at Buyer's expense. When contacting us, please be sure to include the tag number of the horse you are referencing. ALL purchases must be paid for in full upon receipt of an invoice from Tar Heel Feedlot. If requesting an invoice, please include the tag number, your complete contact information, and your email address. Horses will be listed as available beginning Monday, April 11, 2016.

All invoices will be processed through Square secure credit card processing and NO other form of payment will be accepted.

Each horse will have a 3 digit tag number assigned. Please use this number in all correspondence. These tag numbers are NOT USDA tags but are used by this feedlot exclusively to identify horses for the lot owners.
