Sapulpa Furry Friends

Adoptable Animals at the Sapulpa Animal Shelter/Sapulpa Animal Control. Saving Furbabies on the Short Leash of Time! This is NOT an official site of the Sapulpa Animal Shelter, but is a volunteer-based site with the goal of uniting people and pets.

To save and rehome as many furkids as possible. To educate others the importance of spaying and neutering to reduce Oklahoma's huge pet overpopulation problem, which in turn reduces the tremendous amount of abuse and neglect in our state.

Sapulpa Furry Friends is a volunteer based 501(c)3 organization that promotes the animals of the Sapulpa Animal Shelter. Donations to Sapulpa Furry Friends are tax deductible. Sapulpa Furry Friends is NOT the Sapulpa Animal Shelter; contact the shelter directly to speak with shelter employees.

Unfortunately thousands of animals were euthanized every year at this shelter due to pet overpopulation and human neglect. Every person in this community can be a part of the solution: SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!! BE THE SOLUTION, NOT THE PROBLEM!!! Educate others about sterilization.

ADOPTION COST: $50 for cats, $60 for dogs, which is outstanding because it covers the first year annual age appropriate vaccinations (DHLPP or DAPPV for dogs, FCVR for cats, rabies vaccination, deworming, AND A SPAY/ NEUTER at Spay Oklahoma! Shelter workers will take adopted animals to get spayed/neutered on the next spay/neuter day following their adoption date (currently and usually on Mondays), then their new owners pick them up from the shelter that evening after their surgery.

***Anyone can adopt any animal from this facility for only $10. To do this, prepay your own vet for a rabies vaccine and a spay or neuter and present receipt at adoption time to take your new baby home for $10.00

If an animal arrives altered, the adoption fee is only $10.00.

LOCATION: The Sapulpa Animal Shelter is located at 515 E. Fife Ave. in Sapulpa. From E. Line Ave, go north on 5th street and follow the road to the top of the hill, and keep following it back left (west) at the curve. You'll see the tall chain link gates ahead, and keep following the road and it will end at the shelter.

PHONE: 918-227-2722. The employees are very busy, so if you can't reach them feel free to message us and we'll try and assist you, or email volunteers at sapulpafurryfriends@gmail.com.

HOURS: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. Stop in any time during normal business hours.

WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS: Not available at this time.

ADOPTION PROCESS: It's fairly simple. Just go to the shelter and meet the animal(s) and talk to shelter workers about your living situation to see if the animal will be a good fit for your home. If you find one you love and would like to adopt furever, then you simply pay the adoption fee, sign the adoption contract, and leave with your new baby if it is already spayed or neutered. If the animal isn't yet spayed or neutered, you can pick up him/her on the following Monday (or next available evening after spay/neuter surgeries).
**If you rent your residence, please bring written proof from your landlord that you have permission to have this pet on their property.

Adopters of pit bulls will have a quick background check done through the local police department. We don't want pits or other breeds used in dogfighting to end up in the wrong hands. We also do not want dogs chained. Chains are cruel and we don't want our shelter dogs going to a worse situation on a chain. We understand some animals are clever escape artists, but there are ways to prevent this. Have questions? Just ask.

Want to FOSTER? Email foster4sff@gmail.com for a foster application, and for more information. Fosters own animals need to be up to date on all vaccinations, including bordatella for dogs. Fosters need to be aware kennel cough and other diseases are sometimes at the shelter so being up to date on vaccines is important.

Short term or transport fosters will keep the animal until the transport date. Regular fosters keep the animal until they are adopted through Sapulpa Furry Friends.

Medical issues and veterinary treatment for foster animals are usually covered by SFF but must be approved by us first and go through one of the vets we use. Fosters provide food, toys, water, shelter, crate, etc.

Want to VOLUNTEER? We are looking for responsible, mature individuals with animal experience to help out in any way. Volunteer applications/release forms are available at the shelter, or by emailing sapulpafurryfriends@gmail.com. Thanks so much! It's hard work, sometimes heartbreaking, but worth it to know you made a difference in an animal's life. Just be prepared to get a bit messy :)

MISSING A Pet? All new animals are held for three business days to give the rightful owner the chance to claim their pet. After 3 days the animal is put up for adoption, and if not adopted within a timely manner, it might get euthanized. We try to post photos of as many incoming animals as possible, but it's challenging to keep up with them all. So if you are missing a pet, DON'T DELAY! GO to the shelter immediately & see if your pet is there. Also, print a color flyer of your pet and bring it to the shelter in case it arrives here. If your pet does wind up at the shelter, bring proof of rabies vaccination by a licensed vet. If you don't have proof, go to any vet and prepay for a rabies vaccine and bring the receipt to the shelter to claim your baby. Rabies vaccine is required by law for every cat and dog. Shelter fees will apply.

LOST AND FOUND: If you are missing a pet or have found a pet, feel free to post a pic/description on the wall, or the SFF Lost and Found page, or the TAW Lost and Found page, etc.. Breeders may NOT advertise on this site. Craigslist is also good tool for finding pets. Be sure to post in the "lost and found" section and the "pets" section on craigslist.

DISCLAIMER: Please remember animals get sick just like people do, and they need their shots and exams like we do. We can not guaruntee the health of any animal. These animals come off the streets of Sapulpa, and we do not know their histories. Additionally, puppies and kittens are particularly sensitive to germs and disease in the shelter environment, and all animals should be checked by your vet after adoption. The services you will receive at Spay Oklahoma are excellent, but having your own vet evaluate the animal after adoption is strongly recommended.
