Pet Valu Mount Vernon (Baltimore, MD) has partnered with the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) to help find forever homes for shelter cats. Together, the staff of Pet Valu and BARCS volunteers care for the cats and help promote adoption throughout the community.

BARCS volunteers visit the kitties twice daily to clean the cat condos, feed and provide them with fresh water as well as play with them! The staff is also incredibly helpful and entertain the kitties between volunteer visits.

All cats in the store have been fostered by tireless volunteers and are well-socialized and waiting patiently for their forever homes! They are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. The adoption fee is usually $75, but fees are occasionally waived or discounted due to adoption specials.
