The Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals (ASPA) is a registered Society no. 9058/97 (under the Societies Act of Tanzania). The Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals was founded in 1997 to carry out the work outlined in its Mission Statement like improving animal welfare in the following ways: educate adults and children on animal respect, care and good husbandry, rescue stray and badly treated animals, control animal over-populations, carry out rabies vaccination campaigns, uphold the Animal Protection Ordinance (CAP 153), update the current legislation and buying land for the construction of an animal rescue facility and veterinary laboratory
