BARK honors ALL veterans today, but we are particularly thankful for our interim Executive Director, Jennifer, who proudly served in the United States Marines. Courtesy post as we are trying to find a special owner/foster for this dog.
Her name is Kiki
She is a special girl, but does come with some baggage … Originally rescued from Dallas Shelter June of 2017, they were told she was 3 months, but determined with vet that she was actually 5-6 months (called Dallas rescue and they confirmed she was adopted and returned). They soon found out why, but had already committed to her.
When she was first brought home, she was introduced to their other 2 lab rescues but all became territorial even after working with a trainer. They walked together, got along, but were separated in the home or yard if needed. Lots of juggling. She does NOT tolerate small dogs.
She is VERY attached to people and needs human attention.
One dog household is exactly what she needs where she will be the center of attention !
Unfortunately she has seizures, so she is on phenobarbital (1.5am/1.5pm) She spends about $30/month on her meds and the owner is willing to discuss how She can financially contribute to alleviate that expense for the 1st year to a worthy family. Upon her divorce, Kiki went with her EX and has put on a few pounds and didn’t receive what she needs. He passed away last Friday which contributes to her sense of urgency.
She requires exercise and the opportunity to run ! She’s smart as a whip and can opens doors, can figure her way out of a low fence and is certainly food motivated. Loves chasing small animals and typically catches them. She has had her share of getting into trouble: found a couple of copperheads and a bag of rat poison, but she’s a tough little girl! Oh, she loves pulling and eating the toilet paper off the roll and will steal underwear/socks that are left out. (That was another visit to the vet)
She’s the sweetest thing when she gets the attention she deserves, and a snuggler.
Can anyone help? You may contact the Owner Linda at +1 (972) 955-0370 with any questions. She prefers text first as she is dealing with some heavy issues and may not be able to take your call right away.
