To help as many donkeys and other equines here in Crete. To prevent the needless killing of unwanted equines

We rescue and give a forever home to unwanted donkeys, mules and horses. We give 'sanctuary' in the true meaning of the word. Safe from harm.

FREEDOM FROM ROPES..Most if not all of the donkeys have lived tied up for their whole lives. We believe in FREEDOM

We moved to Crete from the UK in 2004 and saved our first donkey, 'George' in 2005. He was rapidly followed by a number of donkeys that needed help and care in their old age.

We welcome visitors all year around but we are not a tourist facility and the care of our animals takes priority. So we ask you to please call ahead to check that it is convenient. 0030 697 6088547.

We spend a lot of time working with village donkey owners helping them to medicate and care for their donkeys and organise outreach visits from the Greek Animal Welfare group so that donkeys can see a dentist, vet and farrier which otherwise they would not,
