Bristol Bat Rescue

Advice for dealing with injured and baby bats and updates on bats we rescue in the former Avon area. And education about bats and bat conservation

We are a local small group of enthusiasts who rescue, rehabilitate and release bats from in and around the Bristol area, working with the Bat Conservation Trust.

We offer advice and will come and rescue bats you may find in distress, for example out in the day, grounded or that have been caught by a cat, as well as hand rearing orphans. We will do our utmost to ensure a bat is released where it came from, with the exception of pups, who need special soft release.

The group is currently largely self-funded so we are also hoping to raise our profile, and with it, funds.

We also keep, where appropriate, injured bats not fit for release who can be used for educational purposes.

Additionally, we offer talks at educational events, and will happily offer bat encounters to schools, community groups or other interested groups and can bring our licensed captive bats to meet your group as long as it's not too noisy! Donations are always welcome but not obligatory as we put education people about these wonderful creatures first, however all proceeds will go to help rescue bats and look after those in our long term care.

We can also offer talks about bat care, and are always willing, time allowing, to train people up to be bat carers so you can have the privilege of helping these animals.
