The Bell Animal Shelter is a sanctuary for special needs cats, founded in 2014 by Frederick Barnabas Bell.

The Bell Animal Shelter is a sanctuary for special needs cats, founded in 2014 by Frederick Barnabas Bell.

We adopted Frederick from a local food pantry, where he had been mousing for his keep after his mother died of cancer. A chronic health condition put him into retirement here. Frederick is the author Nine Life Tales, a collection of humorous vignettes about how to live well.

Some of our animal family are being fostered for people who are homeless. Others have chronic medical conditions, behavioral issues, or are too old for adoption. We offer holistic care, traditional medicine, and happy hospice, along with lots of toys, treats, and affection for cats who might not be otherwise adoptable.
