Dixie County Humane Society

Dixie County Humane Society is a no-kill shelter that was founded in 2006. We are fully committed to our core belief - every life counts!

Mission Statement

Motivated by the truths that every life has value, that all animals deserve dignity and respect, and that all companion animals deserve a stable and caring home for their lifetime, the Dixie County Humane Society pledges to protect and save every abandoned, abused, or lost dog or cat in our care. Further, DCHS promises to lead the way in its community by relentlessly defending the rights of all animals to be saved rather than killed, by working towards a community where cruelty no longer exists, and where all homeless and unwanted animals are offered the opportunity of a forever, loving home.

Dixie County Humane Society (a 501C Non-Profit Corporation) offers pet adoptions every Saturday between 11 AM and 3:30 PM at the Gainesville PetSmart or at the Old Town facility, by appointment.

Prospective pet parents will need to complete an application. We encourage you to bring all furry members of your family for a meet and greet.

All of our animals are spade or neutered, receive booster shots for rabies and parvovirus (dogs), are fully wormed, and are put on heartworm and flea medication before being adopted out.

Adoption fees vary depending on the animal. Rest assured that your money will help other animals find their furever families.

Tax- deductible donations of any size help save lives and can be sent to P.O. Box 192, Old Town, FL 32680.
