The Dorset Equine Rescue Inc is a 501 c 3 rescue located in Dorset Vermont. We are dedicated to saving neglected and/or slaughter bound horses who end up at auctions or in less than desirable situations to no fault of there own. Once they are in our care, they will start the rehabilitation process both physically and mentally. They will stay in quarantine for the first 30 days to make sure they are clear of carrying any illnesses. Once they are evaluated and are ready, they will be available for adoption to prescreened forever homes. In some cases if we feel a horse has been severely neglected and has had an extremely rough life, we will provide a sanctuary where the horse will become a permanent member of DER. In this case, he/she will live out there days with us and will not be available for adoption. We run strictly on donations from people like you and volunteers.
